What We’re About
Purpose Statement
Our Purpose Statement is admittedly a bit long, but genuinely reflects the vision for Fall Creek Veterinary Medical Center.
Fall Creek Veterinary Medical Center exists:
- To provide outstanding medical and surgical care to our patients using advanced, thorough diagnostics and therapy to effectively prevent and treat disease.
- To look after the complete needs of our animal patients, focusing on gentle, compassionate care, and the promotion of the patient’s best interest for health, comfort, and quality of life.
- To provide for the needs of our clients, with honesty, respect, and compassion, recognizing our role in assisting them in the lifelong care of their pets.
- To dedicate ourselves to accessibility and generosity with our time and medical knowledge, to be a resource for the complete range of concerns of pets’ families.
- To fully recognize the privilege of caring for our animal patients and to offer a ministry of service to their human companions.
Drs. Jerry Risser, Aaron Luth, Ernie Harshman, and Jennifer Crowe, as well as the staff, are passionate about caring for you and your pet. Fall Creek Veterinary Medical Center was started because we felt we could offer a new way to achieve this vision, and this is how we plan to spend our time and efforts. We encourage you to speak with anyone on staff. You will find these individuals were selected specifically for their dedication to these ideals. We invite you to come visit our office. Please call or e-mail a request for a tour of our facility. We look forward to the opportunity to care for your pet.
Office Information
Prescription Refill Policy
We kindly request up to 24 hours for prescription refills for non-controlled substances.
Please allow up to 48 hours for prescription refills for controlled substances.
Controlled substances, as well as Gabapentin, are subject to the Indiana INSPECT program (see below).
You may request a “stat refill” for urgent prescription refill requests for a small fee. “Stat” refills will be completed within 2 hours for non-controlled substances, and 4 hours for controlled substances.
An additional fee is assessed as a veterinarian must delay patient-care time and tasks to address the stat refill promptly.
Due to the extremely high volume of online prescription refill requests, please allow up to three business days for approval of Vetsource requests. Outside online pharmacies make take up to seven business days for approval.
INDIANA INSPECT
As of January 1st, 2021, the state of Indiana began to track all controlled substance prescriptions in a single database online to address the issues of prescription drug abuse and diversion. In order to comply with the INSPECT program, Fall Creek Veterinary Medical Center is entering all controlled substance prescriptions dispensed from our hospital into the database. Additional information is required from you when these prescriptions are dispensed (i.e. date of birth and government-issued ID). We appreciate your cooperation as we adhere to Indiana law.
Cancellation/Missed Appointment Policy
Due to the current shortage of veterinary professionals and the large number of patients we see each day, our appointment times are limited. Therefore, we kindly request if you are unable to make your appointment, please call as soon as possible. You may always leave a message on our voicemail after hours.
A minimum of two (24) hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule appointments.
Late cancels or missed appointments will assess up the full amount of the cost of the appointment.
Surgical procedures must be cancelled 24 hours in advance.
Late cancels or missed surgical appointments will assess a $62 fee.
Drop-off for surgical procedures is between 7 and 7:30 AM. If you are unable to arrive by 7:45 AM, we will need to reschedule the procedure.
Grooming appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled by no later than 24 hours in advance.
The first missed groom appointment will be charged for 50% of the price of the groom.
Repeat missed groom appointments will be charged for 100% of the price of the groom.
Drop-off for grooming is between 7:00 and 8:00 AM. Failure to arrive by 8:15 AM will result in an automatic cancellation of your appointment and application of the fee outlined above.

Emergency Reserve Appointments
While we are not an emergency hospital, we strive to provide the best possible care for your pets. Therefore, we reserve several emergency appointments each day for pets in need of urgent care. However, these spots are limited and cannot be filled more than 12 hours prior. This also does not completely eliminate the need for emergency veterinary care in some instances. If you suspect your pet is in need of emergency veterinary care, please give us a call and our CSR and Nursing Staff teams can help triage the situation. The emergency exam fee is $80.
