Whats New

Hello Patients, Clients, and Friends of Fall Creek Veterinary Medical Center,

Lots of news to report, so I’ll get right to it:

I wanted to pass along a brief message to update you on a few things.

First, and on a sad note: many of you remember Kimberley Milum Becht, a receptionist for about two years with us from when we opened until 2008. She lost a long battle with breast cancer on Tuesday, and her memorial service was yesterday. She was 44. Our thoughts are with her husband, Ben, and two sons.

On a more mixed note, I wanted to make you aware of a program with which we are participating in an effort to assist, at least in a small way, with the ongoing environmental disaster caused by the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. For more information on this program, click here, or visit www.matteroftrust.org . We will be collecting hair from all our groom patients and you are also welcome to bring hair, free of other debris, that you have brushed from your pets at home and we will be glad to mail it for you. A pound of hair will absorb a quart of oil. It is a very tiny difference, unfortunately, but in the face of a catastrophe in which we all feel so helpless to help the birds and marine life in the Gulf, maybe even a little bit can help.

Finally, the heat, humidity, and excessive rains have all contributed to a perfect scenario for mosquitoes and fleas. Be sure that your dogs (at least, possibly at risk cats, too) are on heartwom preventatives. Also, we are happy to help with sorting out the many options for flea preventatives and treatments available. As always, don't hesitate to contact us by phone, e-mail, or (increasingly) via our Facebook page with any concerns and questions.

We wish you a pleasant summer and continue to be grateful for the opportunity to care for your pets.

Warmly,
Jerry Risser, DVM
